Murray State 's Missouri Valley Football Conference home opener on Saturday will be a tough assignment: the 4th-ranked South Dakota.

The Racers (1-3) host the Coyotes (3-1) with a 2pm kickoff at Roy Stewart Stadium.

The game marks back-to-back weeks of meeting an FCS ranked team for the Racers as North Dakota was No. 8 last week.

In a season of building team culture, Coach Jody Wright saw the MSU offense produce their best effort of the season in their last contest. The Racers scored in every quarter and had touchdown runs of 58 and 65 yards from Jayden Johannsen and Q’Daryius Jennings. MSU had a season-high in total yards (447) and rushing yards (268).

After this weekend, the Racers still have home games against Illinois State for homecoming (Oct. 19), North Dakota State (Oct. 26) and Missouri State (Nov. 9).
