Heath Elementary wins Paducah Power School Challenge for food donations

Paducah Power's 15th year for the Christmas in the Park School Challenge resulted in a total of 30,230 pounds of nonperishable food for local food banks.

The food collected at each school was weighed, and the school's total was divided by their enrollment.

In the small school group, Heath Elementary took the contest's top prize with 11.788 lbs per student, and Heath Middle was the runner-up with 11.078 lbs.  

Concord Elementary edged out the win in the large school category with 6.151 lbs per student, with Paducah Tilghman capturing the runner-up award with 5.723 lbs.  

Other schools collecting food items included Community Christian Academy, St. Mary Elementary, Hendron Lone Oak Elementary, Reidland Middle, Lone Oak Elementary, Lone Oak Middle and Paducah Middle School.  

Food donations are still being taken this weekend at Noble Park's "Christmas in the Park" display.
