What was life like on the Ohio River one thousand years ago?

Get a glimpse this Saturday at a free archaeological field day in Massac County at Kincaid Mounds.

The site was a large Native American town occupied during the Mississippian Period from the years 1050 to 1450. It's a National Historic Landmark, and you can take a walking tour Saturday from 9am til 3 pm.

Formal presentations by the Kincaid Support Organization will happen at 10 am and 1 pm. You'll be able to see artifacts and hear from professors from Southern Illinois University.

Hiking shoes are recommended.

Kincaid Mounds is about ten miles east of Brookport. At the north edge of town, head east on Unionville Road, travel six miles to New Cut Road, then three miles to Kincaid Road and look for the sign to Kincaid Mounds.
