As communities across western Kentucky try to recover from historic flooding, the Salvation Army of Paducah has been helping out the best way they can.

Captains Benny and Crystal Carringer and their team of volunteers went into action hours after the flooding began.

Last week the team delivered delivered 48 cleanup kits to Hickman County, and another pallet of cleaning kits to Marshall County. Each one was packed with essential supplies like bleach, a mop, sponges, a squeegee, and disinfectant.

Later that day the crew ended up in Ballard County, providing hot meals along with emotional and spiritual care to families, and to first responders conducting water rescues.

The Salvation Army is committed to serving the region for as long as needed. Their efforts are made possible solely through donations.
