A public forum designed to get input from residents on the future of Paducah and McCracken County was held Tuesday night at the convention center.
The open-house style meeting also included a formal presentation. The slide presentation will be available online for anyone who couldn't be there or wants to see them again.
Representatives from the City of Paducah, McCracken County, and planning consultant Kendig Keast Collaborative were on hand for feedback and questions at this first of several forums which will help shape the future of the community and help Paducah and McCracken County combine their separate long-term, comprehensive plans. An online survey will be conducted in the future, as well.
Paducah Planning Director Nic Hutchison said, “Currently, each government agency has its own comprehensive plan which is required by the State to be updated every five years. A joint City/County plan will guide the physical and economic development of the area, preserve the City and County’s local character, and enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors.”
The McCracken County Fiscal Court and the Paducah Board of Commissioners agreed in February to establish a joint comprehensive plan for the community by approving a 20-year interlocal agreement.
