Just before 10 a.m. Wednesday, Concord Fire was called to assist Reidland-Farley Fire, McCracken Rescue, and Paducah Fire along Lydon Road. A pickup truck with two people inside was stuck in the water over 150 feet from dry ground. Firefighters got boats in the water and were able to rescue those in the truck.
Then, just after 4 p.m. on Thursday, Reidland-Farley Fire and Concord Fire were called to Husband Road between Clarkline and Krebs Station for another truck in the water. This time there were four people in the vehicle. One of them was able to get out and make it to dry ground on his own. However, the other three were rescued by boat.
There were no injuries in either case, but it serves as a reminder not to disregard the signs and barricades. The selfish move puts not only the drivers but also first responders at risk.
