Jackson Purchase Energy Cooperative said crews worked through the night to restore power to its service territory following widespread system damage caused by recent weather events.
The damage resulted in 80 outages, leaving approximately 5,000 members without power and over 25 broken utility poles.
They said progress was made overnight, but significant work remains, including the removal of fallen trees, installation of new poles, and replacement of damaged wire.
As of 4:30 am, the number of outages has been reduced to 26, with approximately 1,040 members still without power. Approximately 95% of the damage assessment has been completed.
JPEC currently has 8 crews working on restoration, along with 5 Groves Electric crews and 4 Townsend crews.
JPEC urges all members to exercise extreme caution around downed power lines, trees, and poles. All such hazards should be treated as live and dangerous.
Outage restoration efforts will continue today and may extend into Friday morning.
Statewide, Kentucky had more than 36,000 outages as of Thursday morning.
