Paducah Tilghman High School junior D.J. Wilson won the school's "Road to Excellence" car giveaway on Wednesday.
The program was an incentive for students to strive for excellence in their attendance, academics and behavior at school.
During the school year, students earned tickets for their achievements and attitude that were entered for drawings to win the car and other prizes at the end of the school year.
The program was put on by the Hands of Hope Foundation with donations from the community.
According to the foundation's GoFundMe page, the purpose of the program is to "take things back to basics focusing on being present at school, building camaraderie between fellow students, zero tolerance for bullying, and keeping a clear channel of communication between teachers and students."
The site claims that since the program began last November, PTHS has had a near record increase in attendance.
