Plans for a new hospital in Clarksville were revealed on Thursday.

Ascension Saint Thomas officials said the $148 million project will be located at Highway 76 and I-24.

The hospital will open with 44 inpatient beds, later expandable to 132. It will offer emergency care, inpatient surgery, cardiology, oncology, women’s health, NICU, orthopaedics, imaging and more. 

Officials say the new hospital will create about 250 healthcare jobs in of one of Tennessee’s fastest-growing counties.

Since opening its first Clarksville site in 2005, the health system has grown to 14 care locations in the area.

Ascension Saint Thomas has submitted a letter of intent to the Tennessee Health Facilities Commission and is moving through the certificate of need process. 

A public hearing for the project is scheduled for July 25.
