Graves County traffic stop and K9 search ends with drug charges

A traffic stop and a K9 search ended with drug charges for a pair in Mayfield on Monday.

Graves County Sheriff deputies conducted the traffic stop on North 17th Street near Clark Street. 

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 41-year-old Carrie Ann Runyon old of Mayfield. Runyon also had a passenger in the vehicle, 43-year-old Michael Hendley of Morehead and a 13-year-old juvenile was in the backseat.

A deputy with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office utilized K9 Drax and conducted a search of the vehicle. Drax reportedly alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics inside the vehicle. 

Deputies said they found marijuana, methamphetamine and a baggie of a white powder of a controlled substance while searching the vehicle. Runyon also reportedly had an open beer in the center console. Deputies said Runyon was also impaired.

Hendley was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance. 

Runyon was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a motor vehicle under the influence and wanton endangerment.
