Several members of a family were injured just after noon Thursday in west Tennessee when the funeral limousine they were riding in was struck by a train.

Witnesses said the limousine, traveling on US 64-Stage Road, was struck by a westbound CSX freight train as it crossed the track in Bartlett.

The limousine was heavily damaged as it was pushed several hundred feet down the track, coming to rest against trees in a park.

Bartlett Alderman Kevin Quinn told West Kentucky Star that six occupants of the vehicle were taken to hospitals for treatment.

According to Bartlett Police, the train was stopped, blocking traffic at two crossings, until shortly after 2:00pm.
