An Eddyville man was arrested Saturday for allegedly stealing gas from parked vehicles.

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office was called just before 6 a.m. Saturday by a resident on KY 730 West who had awakened to find a suspicious vehicle on his property. The caller had been a recent victim of a string of fuel thefts in the area. Sheriff Brent White was the first to arrive found the vehicle empty. 

Just after 7 a.m. Sheriff White located and detained a suspect, later identified as 37-year-old Austin Oliver of Eddyville, nearby on Louard Bell Road. Oliver was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking, alcohol intoxication in a public place, and criminal trespassing. He was additionally served with warrants from an Eddyville Police case accusing him of theft by unlawful taking, criminal trespassing, and criminal mischief. 

Oliver was taken to the Crittenden County Detention Center.
