McCracken County Judge-Executive Craig Clymer told the Fiscal Court Monday that he believed progress was being made with the City of Paducah on the sports complex.

Clymer told the commissioners he had met with Paducah Mayor George Bray at least three times over the last week. He said he had urged the city to come out with a joint statement that both governments had resolved their issues regarding the E-911 system and the sports complex, where each would go forward at its own pace.

"On Thursday, when we met, I thought we made progress on that and it was going to happen," said Clymer. "I was wrong, though; instead, the mayor said the city was not ready to announce that resolution over the weekend."

According to Clymer the city still wanted more reassurance that the county was willing to work together on the communications upgrade. After the 911 meeting Monday, Clymer said he met with the mayor again, offering reassurance that he and the fiscal court are on board and can be trusted.

Clymer believes progress was made at this meeting. According to Clymer, Bray had said the city would not hold the county to the same dollar amount as what was agreed for the sports complex and the two projects are separate from each other.
