Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has been elected to lead the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway Development Authority for 2023.
Members elected Beshear citing his work on inland waterway projects and support of the Tenn-Tom. They credit Beshear for helping launch the Kentucky Lake Research Project using experimental techniques to try and eradicate Asian carp as well as providing funding for improvements to a number of Kentucky riverports including the Paducah-McCracken County Riverport Authority.
The group is an interstate compact made up of Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee. The body of the authority consists of the four governors plus five appointees each.
John McConnell of Murray will be the vice-chairman for the group.
