An Arlington man has been charged with DUI after a hit-and-run crash with an Amish buggy in Graves County.

The crash happened on KY 80 east of Fancy Farm just before Noon. Witnesses told Graves County Sheriff's deputies that a car struck the buggy, and then took off toward Carlisle County. The car sustained heavy damage and the horse broke free and took off, as well. The horse was located safe, later.

The driver of the buggy, 55-year-old Roy Mast of Dublin, was taken to Jackson Purchase Medical Center for treatment.

According to deputies, the vehicle was driven by 49-year-old James L. Gholson of Arlington. Carlisle County Sheriff's deputies caught up with Gholson, as he was driving on the rim after blowing out a tire in the crash. Gholson was allegedly under the influence at the time of the stop. He reportedly refused to submit to a blood alcohol test, so a search warrant was obtained.

Gholson is said to have told deputies that he did hit the buggy and then took off. He was reportedly driving on a DUI-suspended license at the time of the crash. Records show that Gholson has had several convictions for DUI.

Gholson was arrested and charged with DUI, driving on a DUI-suspended license, and leaving the scene of a crash.
