A Mayfield Police Department canine helped authorities nab two people on drug charges after a Friday traffic stop.

Graves County Sheriff's deputies stopped a vehicle just after midnight Friday east of Mayfield along KY 80. Deputies called in a canine from Mayfield Police. A hit from the dog prompted a search that reportedly uncovered bags of methamphetamine and marijuana along with drug paraphernalia with residue from meth. Deputies arrested the driver, 50-year-old Jacqueline Ann Canter, and the passenger, 45-year-old James A. Strickland, both of Murray.

Carter and Strickland have been charged with possession of meth, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Carter has also been charged with traffic violations.
