Two people were arrested for trafficking in fentanyl after a pair of undercover drug buys in Paducah.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office was tipped off on Tuesday that 18-year-old Rachel Lloyd of Metropolis was allegedly selling fentanyl capsules. Detectives set up an undercover buy in McCracken County and reportedly, Lloyd and 26-year-old Martin Monk of Maxon Road sold five suspected fentanyl capsules to them.

A second buy was set up for Thursday at a location off Cairo Road. Detectives allegedly bought another 20 fentanyl capsules from them. Lloyd and Monk were arrested following the second buy.

Investigators found that the two had a hotel room on 5th Street in Metropolis. Southern Illinois Drug Task Force officers searched the room and reportedly located more fentanyl capsules along with some marijuana.

Lloyd and Monk were both charged with trafficking in fentanyl. Monk was additionally charged with traffic violations.
