Storm damage crews from the National Weather Service have now confirmed that at least 17 different tornadoes were spawned across the four-state area on Tuesday, and the number may still rise.

Meteorologists have been assessing damage all week in at least 8 different locations, combined with a timeline established by radar and storm reports from observers on the ground.

The tornadoes included seven EF-2s and ten EF-1s with wind speeds ranging from 90 to 130 miles per hour. Their paths ranged from half a mile to 14.7 miles long.

They occurred in a one-hour period between 4:46 a.m. and 5:46 a.m. along a path in southern Illinois from Williamson County through Saline, Gallatin and White counties, then into southwest Indiana through Posey, Vanderburgh and Warrick counties. At 5:05 am, a very brief tornado also occurred in western Kentucky near the Ballard/McCracken county line.

Thankfully, only two injuries were reported when residents of a home were hit by storm debris near Eldorado, Illinois.

This was the most tornadoes in a single event across our Quad-State region since Halloween 2013, when 19 tornadoes were spawned that day. The all-time record was 21 on May 6, 2003.

The weather service said that they still have to do additional damage surveys that may go into next week, so this number likely will rise.

The National Weather Service summary of each tornado can be found here .
