A McCracken County deputy was reportedly bitten on the leg, and a safe containing almost six pounds of pot was discovered when deputies investigated a domestic violence incident in Paducah.

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office said officers executed a search warrant at a home on Starr Lane on Tuesday.

Deputies said they counted eight dogs living in unsanitary conditions, with animal waste throughout the home.

Investigators said one of the dogs became aggressive and bit an officer’s leg, requiring treatment at the hospital.

Deputies also found a safe containing 5.98 pounds of marijuana packaged in small bags, digital scales, and plastic baggies.

Charges for 40-year-old Matthew Meyers include assault, strangulation, trafficking in marijuana and harboring a vicious animal.
