Trailer, lumber stolen last December recovered in Livingston County

A suspect was arrested Friday in connection with the theft of a trailer loaded with lumber from Caldwell County last December.

On December 14, 2023, Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office investigated the theft of a gooseneck trailer loaded with lumber. They notified neighboring sheriff's departments about the theft, but no immediate arrests were made.

On Wednesday, the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office that located a trailer matching their description was discovered near Tilene. The trailer's VIN number and brand plate had been removed, but it was identified by the victim. 

The trailer was returned to the owner along with part of the lumber.  

The suspect will be charged in Livingston County for receiving stolen property, and the Caldwell County Sheriff will follow up on theft charges.
