A Lyon County man was sentenced to prison this week after being found guilty of child porn and gun offenses.
Sixty-four-year-old Kenneth Swartz will spend ten years in federal prison followed by a life term of supervised release.
Authorities began investigating Swartz after receiving a complaint alleging the convicted felon and registered sex offender had attempted to photograph a minor while shopping at a store in 2020.
Eddyville police confirmed the events after reviewing security footage. They searched his home and found a shotgun and several phones.
Officers soon learned Swartz had another cell phone he kept hidden under his sink. The phone was found after a second search, and forensic analysis discovered the three phones contained over 200 images of child porn.
The case was part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
