State police charge Illinois man with murder in Trigg County

An Illinois man was arrested Thursday afternoon on murder and burglary charges.

Kentucky State Police troopers were called to assist in an assault investigation on Hilltop Street in Cadiz.

Authorities say Trigg County deputies received a call about 48-year-old Harold F. Jett of Taylorsville, Illinois, firing a shot at a vehicle on South Road in Cadiz. 

Jett reportedly fled from deputies to Hilltop Street, where he entered a home but was taken into custody shortly after.

After detaining Jett, deputies found 71-year-old Mary V. Dullenty of Cadiz injured inside of the home. Dullenty was taken to Trigg County Hospital, where she later died.

Jett was arrested and charged by the Kentucky State Police with murder and burglary. In addition, the Trigg County Sheriff's Department charged Jett with additional offenses related to the pursuit.

Jett was taken to the Christian County Jail.

An autopsy has been requested for Dullenty.
