Sex offender found non-compliant in Metropolis

A sex offender compliance check in Metropolis on Tuesday led to the discovery of one non-compliant offender.

Officers checked on 17 sex offenders registered within Metropolis city limits to ensure they were living where they were registered and to verify that their registration information was current.

Authorities said one of the sex offenders was not living where he was registered. Officers spoke with the owner of the home and confirmed no one was currently living at the address.

A report of non-compliance for failure to register as a sex offender was forwarded to the Massac County Attorney's Office and a warrant will be requested.

Four offenders had information that needed to be updated. Officers said they are now in compliance.

Additionally, two sex offenders are registered as homeless and must register weekly. During the registration process, the offender must list the locations they stayed each night for that week.
