Brookport bridge back open as ice retreats

The US 45  Brookport bridge at Paducah is back open as of 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

The bridge was closed by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet last Sunday as a safety precaution ahead of back-to-back ice and snow events.

The bridge has a metal grated deck that cools down quickly when temperatures drop and allows ice to form on the steel.
