Several indicted in Carlisle County after drug investigations

Last week a Carlisle County Grand Jury returned multiple indictments from various drug investigations conducted by the Carlisle County Sheriff’s Office.

All together seven people were indicted for various arrests that took place over the past month.

Cody Mitchell – (On Probation) PCS Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 2nd or greater offense, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
On December 31st deputies were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle in the Milburn community, where they made contact with the driver, 28-year-old Cody Mitchell of Murray. Mitchell, who was on probation for previous drug related charges, consented to a search of him and his vehicle. Deputies said they found a small quantity of methamphetamine, syringes, and other paraphernalia. 

Edward Wallace - Traff Cont Sub 1st Degree, 2nd or greater offense, Poss of Marijuana, Poss of Drug Paraphernalia, Illegal Possession of a Legend Drug, PFO 1
On January 7th, while following up on multiple tips of narcotics sales and use at a home on Ky 80 E in Arlington, authorities conducted a knock and talk with 45-year-old Edward Wallace. While later executing a search warrant on Wallace's home, authorities allegedly found Wallace in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine, numerous items of drug paraphernalia, including items for packaging narcotics, as well as quantities of marijuana and other prescription medication not prescribed to Wallace. At the time the search warrant was executed Wallace was out on parole after being sentenced to 13 years for trafficking methamphetamine in 2019. According to Wallace’s parole conditions he was supposed to be living at a different address than where he was living at the time of his arrest.

Mercedes Ray – (Out on Bond, Non-Extraditable Warrants TN) Poss Cont Sub 1st Meth, Poss Drug Paraphernalia, Tampering with Physical Evidence.

On January 10th a deputy was contacted by Clinton Police about a person they had in custody. Clinton PD had towed a vehicle the previous day that had been abandoned on private property after being wrecked. Police said drug paraphernalia was in plain sight in the vehicle and executed a search warrant on the vehicle. CPD reportedly found quantities of methamphetamine, and hundreds of syringes new and used. On January 10th 20-year-old Alex Tinajero of Bardwell, contacted Clinton PD wanting to know where his car was. CPD had Tinajero come the police station to speak with him about the accident. Police said Tinajero admitted that he had wrecked the vehicle and did not contact law enforcement. When confronted about the drugs in the vehicle he reportedly admitted they belonged to him and his girlfriend, 25-year Mercedes Ray, who was also living in Bardwell at the time with a family member. Tinajero allegedly confessed there were more drugs and paraphernalia in the apartment. Authorities said they found a quantity of methamphetamine, syringes, and other paraphernalia while searching the apartment. They said Ray later admitted she flushed a quantity of narcotics as law enforcement was making entry to the apartment. At the time the search warrant was executed Ray was out on bond from Graves County for drug related offenses as well as having non extraditable warrants out of Tennessee for other drug related offenses.

Angela Grogan – (On Probation) Traff Cont Sub 1st Meth

On January 11th a confidential informant reportedly informed a Sheriff's Deputy they were able to purchase methamphetamine from a couple that were living in the Milburn community. That led deputies to talk to 53-year-old Jay Pender of Milburn. Deputies said Pender’s girlfriend Angela Grogan was texting the CI in reference to prices and quantities of methamphetamine while they were talking with Pender. Later that day the CI went to the home of Pender and Grogan on KY 80 E, with marked currency provided by the Sheriff’s Office. The CI,Pender and Grogan reportedly conducted a transaction. Authorities then executed a search warrant on the home and said they found the marked currency from the transaction in a jacket pocket that Pender was wearing. They said they also found more methamphetamine and numerous items of drug paraphernalia. 

Jonathan Jennings – Traff Cont Sub 1st Degree PFO 1
On January 14th, during an ongoing narcotics investigation deputies said 40-year-old Jonathan Jennings had been revealed as a source for purchasing methamphetamine. Deputies attempted to conduct a knock and talk at Jennings residence on County Road 1200. Jennings lived in a detached garage and family stated they believed that he was home but didn’t know why he would not answer the door. On January 17th Jennings was located and interviewed by deputies. Deputies confronted Jennings with evidence of drug trafficking and he allegedly confessed to a specific transaction for 7 grams of methamphetamine that the Sheriff’s Office was already aware of. Jennings said he did not sell the meth, that he traded for the methamphetamine but did not specify what was traded for the 7 grams of methamphetamine.
