Salem man arrested for assaulting, strangling his mother

A Livingston County man was arrested Monday after authorities said he assaulted his mother.

Deputies responded to Wilkes Lane in Salem after a caller said 56-year-old Riley M. Rogers was angry and destroying property at the home he shared with his mother, 77-year-old Linda Rogers.

Riley reportedly began assaulting and choking his mother after she questioned why he was destroying their property.

Authorities said Linda was able to escape and get help from a neighbor before they arrived and arrested Riley on charges of strangulation and assault.

He was taken to the McCracken County Jail.
