A months-long investigation into the trafficking of methamphetamine in western Kentucky landed two people in jail on Wednesday.

Troopers with the Kentucky State Police, acting on information obtained by the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office, located almost nine pounds of crystal methamphetamine in a car occupied by 51-year-old Monte D. Clark of Grand Rivers and 45-year-old Ashley D. Wooldridge of Kuttawa. Troopers stopped them along I-24 near Cadiz.

At the time of their arrests, Clark was on probation from prior drug convictions, and Wooldridge was out on bond from other drug charges. In this case, both are charged with trafficking in methamphetamine.

The investigation conducted by KSP, the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office, Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Hopkinsville Police, and the DEA had been tracking the organization and their out-of-state suppliers.
