A new scam involving the installation of TV service is making the rounds.
The McCracken County Sheriff's Office said Thursday the scam involves AT&T / Direct TV installers putting in legitimate services.
The scammers are texting around the same time as the service is going in. They are then offering a better deal or state they will lose a discount if the customer doesn't comply. You are reminded never to call back a caller ID number and never go get gift cards to pay off any services.
The scammers seem to be targeting older people and are very convincing on the call and don't break character even when confronted.
If this has happened to you, please contact the McCracken County Sheriff's Office.
