A Paducah native was victorious on the latest season of Christmas Cookie Challenge on Food Network.
Courtney Yopp Norris won the first episode of season 8 of the popular cookie competition. The Louisville baker collected the $10,000 prize for winning the show hosted by The Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond. Norris was selected for the show on her fourth application.
"This is the fourth year that I applied to get on the show. So, it's not an easy feat," Norris told West Kentucky Star. "They pick the top cookie artists in the country to be on the show, and so my competition was really, really high to get on there. But I got on and it was a dream come true."
Norris owns The Pocket Bakery in Louisville and teaches cookie decorating in addition to her duties at RunSwitchPR, a large public relations firm. While The Pocket Bakery does not ship cookies to Paducah, Norris does have an e-book on her website that features some of the cookie recipes she used on the show.
Norris moved to Louisville as a child but has lots of family in western Kentucky. Her grandfather and his brothers owned Yopp Seed Company in Paducah for over 75 years.
