The results of the commonwealth's first license lottery for medical cannabis dispensaries was announced on Monday.

During the event, held at the Kentucky Lottery Corporation in Louisville, 36 applicants were selected from more than 4,000 applicants to receive dispensary licenses, four in each region drawn. The two westernmost regions included:

Region 8 – West Kentucky
OM MED LLC – Paducah, McCracken County
KY-CannCo LLC – Paducah, McCracken County
Green4U LLC – Mayfield, Graves County
Leiber Canna II LLC – Paducah, McCracken County

Region 7 – Pennyrile
Mallard Club LLC – Oak Grove, Christian County
ARKY Capital Investments LLC – Eddyville, Lyon County
River City Relief House LLC – Eddyville, Lyon County
DPDMJF Cannabis Holding Company LLC – Eddyville, Lyon County

Monday's drawing covered Regions 3-11, but did not include drawings for Jefferson or Fayette counties.  Lotteries for Regions 1 and 2 will take place in December.

Sam Flynn, executive director of the Kentucky Office of Medical Cannabis, said the 36 businesses chosen will have 15 days to pay their licensing fees and will be issued a license once the fees have been paid.

Flynn said the first applicant chosen can stay in that county. Any other applicant approved for that same county will need to relocate to another county in the region that allows medical marijuana businesses to operate.
