McCracken student arrested on rape, sodomy, other charges

A McCracken County High School student was arrested on several charges on Thursday.

The case began in December when the McCracken County Sheriff's Office was contacted by McCracken County Public Schools regarding alleged inappropriate pictures and other activities by a student. 

School resource officers reported that pictures of a sexual nature had been shown to students by a fellow student. They indicated that the student was possibly in a relationship with a middle school student.

The alleged criminal activity was thought to have occurred off school property, but students felt comfortable speaking about it with the school resource officer. 

On Thursday, detectives with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office arrested 18-year-old Landon Player.  He was charged with rape, sodomy, unlawful transaction with a minor, sexual abuse and two counts of distributing obscene material. 

Player is being held in the McCracken County Jail.
