Metropolis police searching for suspect, victim after early morning shooting

Officers are searching for a suspect and a victim after an early morning shooting on Oak Drive in Metropolis.

Metropolis police were called to a report of shots fired at 1 am on Wednesday in the 300 block of Oak Drive. 

Officers said the shooter had already fled the scene when they arrived and the victim had crashed their vehicle into a tree before leaving the scene on foot.

Authorities said the shooting was not a random attack and both the shooter and intended target have been identified.

There is no threat to the community.
