Scattered thunderstorms may develop in the afternoon and early evening on Monday. The chances are highest over southeast Missouri and southern Illinois, ranging from 30 to 50 percent. A few severe storms appear possible with wind and hail the main threat, if storms can get going.

More widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected on Tuesday as a cold front approaches. There is some risk (level 2 of 5) for a few severe storms with wind and hail the main threat, mainly on Tuesday afternoon.

The risk for severe weather generally increases as you move west and northwest.

For the most part this event still looks like it may struggle to pull together all the necessary ingredients for a widespread severe weather threat.
