The highly anticipated Buc-ee’s travel center slated for Oak Grove has been delayed, yet again.

The Texas-based chain’s official website now projects a 2029 debut.

The massive travel center, slated for development off I-24 at Exit 89, was originally scheduled to break ground in 2025, but the project requires extensive infrastructure upgrades before actual construction can begin.

Projects for Oak Grove to check off the list include expanding and re-routing roads -- including a reworking of Exit 89, building a new bridge, roundabouts, and constructing a new water infrastructure including a new water tower.

The city is reportedly in the process of planning and creating nearby stormwater basins to combat flooding.

The Buc-ee's timeline has shifted a number of times since initial discussions began in 2022.

At one point Clarksville became a late consideration for relocation, but the Oak Grove City Council approved an incentives package in 2024 to secure the location and Buc-ee’s finalized its property purchase at the southeast corner of I-24 and Pembroke-Oak Grove Road in mid-2025.

When completed, the development is estimated to bring about 200 jobs.

But for now, the only two Kentucky Buc-ee's are located in Smith's Grove and Scottsville.
