The tropical depression dropped from 1 inch to over 6 inches of rainfall across the Quad State from Thursday morning through Monday morning. Most areas were in the 4-inch or more category.
The lightest amounts were near Van Buren Missouri, beyond the reach of the outer edge of the spiraling system.
The greatest amounts were around 6.5" near the NWS office in West Paducah. Of that total, more than 5 inches came on Friday, which was the second-highest single-day rain ever during September.
Meteorologists said that the region had been so dry since August that the heavy rains did not result in any significant flooding.
On Thursday, the latest USDA Drought Monitor will be published. At last report, the entire area was experiencing moderate to extreme drought conditions, but this rain episode could completely end the drought situation for many counties.
