Water Valley woman charged with theft of mail

A Water Valley woman was arrested for stealing mail in Graves County on Thursday.

The Sheriff's Office said they arrested 57-year-old Tonya A. Benyei after deputies identified her as a suspect in their investigation. 

The victim told deputies an unknown person had stolen a package from their mailbox that contained merchandise that had been ordered from an online merchant. 

Deputies searched Benyei's home Thursday afternoon and said they found the stolen merchandise, as well as the packaging it was mailed and shipped in. The suspect reportedly confessed to the theft.

Benyei was charged with theft of mail matter, which is a Class D felony.
