Nashville area fatal plane crash took off from Hopkinsville

A Nashville area plane crash that claimed the life of the pilot Friday afternoon had connections to western Kentucky.

WKDZ and WZTV report that the crash occurred early Friday afternoon in a field near the Nashville northeastern suburb of Gallatin in Sumner County.

The plane took off earlier that day from the Hopkinsville-Christian County airport and was headed to Cleveland, Tennessee. The pilot was the only person on board.

The crash investigation is continuing by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
