Judge Donna L. Dixon of the Kentucky Court of Appeals, Division Two of First Supreme Court District announced her resignation today.

In submitting her resignation to Governor Andy Beshear, Dixon indicated her last day on the bench will be November 20th.

The Paducah native has served on the Court of Appeals for over 17 years. She was appointed by former Governor Ernie Fletcher in 2006. Before that, Dixon was a district judge for 10 years in McCracken County and is the first woman to ever be elected at both the local and state levels.

Dixon said in a news release she is resigning to seek a different capacity to serve the people of McCracken County. She added that announcement will come upon her resignation becoming official.
