Now that the use of medical cannibis is legal in Kentucky, Paducah city commissioners introduced an ordinance preparing for its sale in the city.
On Tuesday the board introduced an amendment that would define medicinal cannabis businesses. They set a minimum annual fee of $500 for a license to operate, and created a license tax schedule for the businesses.
The amendment specifies that medical cannabis businesses must present a valid state license, be in good standing with the city, and be compliant with zoning codes to receive their Paducah business license.
Last November, Kentucky awarded 36 dispensary licenses in its first round of selection. Three of those licenses were awarded to Paducah businesses.
