A shooting in southern Graves County that claimed the life of woman has a juvenile facing a murder charge.
Authorities responded Wednesday to the shooting at a home on Hopkins Cemetery Road, where they found 56-year-old Mariah Warren dead from a shotgun wound.
The shooter, identified by witnesses as a 15-year-old, allegedly told the sheriff's office that the woman, who was a neighbor, was not welcome on the property and was told to leave. When she refused, he said he went and got a shotgun, loaded it and pointed it at her.
The juvenile told them as Warren again refused to leave, he shot her unintentionally.
The sheriff's office said they were not called until after the shooting, and the juvenile attempted to hide the firearm before calling authorities.
The juvenile was charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence. He was taken to a juvenile detention center.
