The Climate Prediction Center has come out with a forecast of well-below normal temperatures for our region as December arrives.

Their latest  8 to 14-day outlook shows Kentucky and Illinois included in a band of temperatures expected to be 10 to 15 degrees below average. That would mean high temperatures as cold as the 30s, and lows in the teens.

That could also be compounded by the possibility of wind chills in single digits or lower during night time hours.

Forecasters say the coldest spell would likely happen after Thanksgiving, from Nov. 29 until Dec. 5.

The advance forecast for Thanksgiving itself is for showers likely, with a high of 49.
