Weather spotters and highway crews are checking in with reports of various forms of wintry precipitation since it moved in early this morning.

As of 11 a.m., freezing rain continued to fall in Crittenden County. Roads in the county were reported slick and slushy and may re-freeze this evening.

The Livingston County highway maintenance crew reported limbs and small trees down this morning due to the weight of ice accumulation. KY 1271 was blocked by a downed tree.

The Lyon County crew also reported downed trees along KY 255 and KY 93.

At 9:15 a.m., Princeton reported power lines down on the northwest side of town.

Ice-laden tree branches were the reported culprit that caused power outages for 1800 customers in Paducah for a few hours.

In southern Illinois, Carbondale told the National Weather Service they have received a quarter inch of ice and an inch of sleet. Fairfield, Illinois east of Mt. Vernon measured 5 inches of snow.

In southeast Missouri, Cape Girardeau also received a quarter inch of ice.

At Evansville, 3.5 inches of snow has fallen so far, and 30 miles to the northeast in Pike County, 7 inches of snow.

As precipitation changes over to mostly rain in many counties this afternoon, KYTC crews are winding down patrolling and treating efforts this morning. Crews are on standby and will report again if the winter storm produces accumulating snow during the overnight hours into Monday morning.
