A project to improve safety along Clarks River Road in Paducah is set to begin today.
Work will run from the Clarks River Bridge to the last crossover before the Pugh Road intersection. Planned improvements will include the construction of a center turn lane.
The work comes after a police study of crash reports found 53 crashes with 36 causing property damage and 17 injuries.
The study found a safety issue is created by trucks attempting to turn left along US 60. Officials hope the construction of a center turn lane will allow trucks to make left turns without blocking a travel lane.
