The search of a home in Eddyville last week resulted in a convicted felon from Chicago being arrested on gun charges.
Lyon County authorities and the Western Kentucky Violent Crimes Task Force searched a home on Elkhorn Tavern Road Friday after receiving a tip alleging that a man had threatened someone with a handgun.
The sheriff's office said the man was reported to be a convicted felon from Illinois with a violent criminal past.
The search allegedly uncovered sixteen guns and ammunition, leading to the arrest of 67-year-old Robert Smyth.
Smyth was charged with wanton endangerment, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
He was taken to the Crittenden County Jail.
