A call about a disturbance in Metropolis last week led to the arrest of a Benton man on numerous charges.

Officers were called to a business on East 5th Street where they spoke with the victim, who said she had been arguing with her boyfriend, 51-year-old Scott T. Wolfe.

The victim told police Scott had been drinking and acting aggressive, allegedly leading to him pulling the victim out of a vehicle, scratching her arm, then driving off with her four-year-old child.

Emergency alerts were sent out in Illinois and Kentucky. About 45 minutes later, authorities received a tip about a reckless driver at Acee's Truck Stop.

Metropolis police chief Harry Masse was nearby and attempted to stop Wolfe but said he fled the scene.

Masse blocked an access road, causing Wolfe to stop. However, as Masse approached his vehicle, he took off again.

Wolfe eventually stopped in a hotel parking lot and was blocked in. He was taken into custody and the child was not injured.

Wolfe was charged with DUI, reckless driving, auto theft, and domestic battery.

He was taken to the Massac County jail.
