October brings Southern 7 Toy Run and BBQ in Brookport

Barbecue and music lovers are encouraged to enjoy a fundraiser at the Bridge Inn Restaurant at the foot of the Brookport Bridge on Saturday, Oct. 21. 

Donations will be divided among the seven southernmost counties for southern Illinois children in need, who otherwise might not receive Christmas gifts. 

Bands volunteering to play at this fun event range from bluegrass to country-rock. They include Chandler Roberts' Band and the Dusty Bottom Boys. 

Last year's first-ever event raised $11,000 and helped 150 children.

Any businesses who want to co-sponsor this event will be recognized publicly for their generosity.
