Voter registration continues to increase in Kentucky for a tenth straight month.
According to the Kentucky Secretary of State's Office, 6,700 new voters signed up in January. The office also removed 6,156 voters from the rolls-the bulk of those being voters that have passed away.
Secretary of State Michael Adams said that the numbers could bode well for the turnout for this year's Presidential election.
Adams said, "These numbers suggest that this November we could have the highest voter turnout in decades. It is critical that the General Assembly leave early voting days and our election integrity measures intact."
Adams is opposed to legislation in the General Assembly that would do away with early voting.
Republicans now make up 46 percent of Kentucky's electorate, while Democrats make up 44 percent.
