The Tennessee Valley Authority set another record for peak power demand on Sunday as temperatures averaged a cold 12 degrees across their seven-state service area.
TVA said the utility provider recorded a peak power demand of 34,284 megawatts at 8:00 Sunday morning. The peak power demand Sunday was the highest ever recorded during a weekend by TVA.
It's also the second highest all-time peak power demand. The overall record was set last Wednesday morning of approximately 34,500 MegaWatts at a temperature of 4 degrees. The previous TVA all-time record peak was 33,482 MegaWatts in August of 2007.
