Kentucky's Chief Justice has called for flags to be lowered to half-staff in honor of the slain Letcher County District Judge.

Kentucky Supreme Court Chief Justice Laurance VanMeter said the flags at all Kentucky Court of Justice facilities would fly at half-staff through sundown Monday in memory of Letcher County District Judge Kevin Mullins. Mullins was shot and killed in his chambers at the Letcher County Courthouse in Whitesburg on Thursday.

Letcher County Sheriff Shawn M. Stines is accused of Mullins' murder.
