Governor Andy Beshear has ordered flags at all state buildings to be lowered to half-staff on Saturday, in honor of Russell County Sheriff's Deputy Joshua Phipps.

A former Metro Louisville Police Officer, the 38-year-old Phipps was shot in the line of duty while searching for a suspect in Russell Springs. Phipps died from his injuries Monday at Russell County Hospital 

Services for Phipps are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at 3trees Church in Russell Springs.

Beshear encourages all individuals, businesses, organizations, and government agencies to join in the tribute.
